Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How should I format the nomination?

A: In the past, nominations have been submitted in a variety of formats. Past submissions have ranged from detailed letters to single pages with bulleted points. Some submissions will require more explanation than others, so it's up to you to determine what format communicates your nomination in the most effective way. It's important to ensure you are conveying the whole story of the tourism accomplishment.

Q: What samples/materials should be included in the nomination?

A: In the last ten years, organizations have submitted supporting materials that include media clippings, marketing collateral, testimonials and DVDs. It is important to include only pieces that directly support the nomination.

Q: We have been nominated for the Tourism Industry Awards in the past. Can we be nominated again?

A: Yes. Any organization that has been nominated in the past can be nominated for the 2010 BC Tourism Industry Awards, as long as they meet the award criteria. All past nominees will need to re-submit a nomination.

Q: Can I nominate my own company/myself for the awards?

A: Yes. We invite all organizations that meet the criteria to nominate themselves for the 2010 BC Tourism Industry Awards. Check back for award nominations and award criteria.

Q: Can we be nominated in more than one category?

A: Yes. If you meet the criteria for more than one award, please feel free to submit multiple nominations.

Q: Who will be judging the awards?

A: Each year, the Tourism Industry Award judges represent a cross section of people in the BC tourism industry.

Q: What is the benefit? What's in it for me?

A: The value of award programs is growing in the BC tourism industry. Not only will you and/or your company receive a beautiful award, you will have an effective marketing tool working for you. Your name and business will be showcased to over 600 of BC's top tourism professionals at one of the industry's most prestigious awards galas. You will also be mentioned on a number of sponsor websites, in awards brochures and other promotional materials, including releases to the media. It's easy to submit your nomination, it's low-cost, and you can promote your "Award Winning" business to your customers. What have you got to lose?
